How do I set up an account?
Please complete our registration form. We will contact you within 24-48 business hours with an account number with which you can login and access the site.
Music Design / NewSound offers instant credit terms on all orders under $250 when backed by a credit card and credit application. Click here for a PDF of our credit application. You may fax it to us at 503-491-8488, or call us and we will fill it out over the phone. While your instant term's contract is limited to $250, once your application is fully reviewed, your new terms of NET 30 will be established.
Do you have minimum order quantities, or offer bulk discounts?

would I have my label distributed by Music Design / NewSound?
NewSound is constantly expanding the breadth and depth of music
we offer. For submissions guidelines, please visit our Submissions

Is
it really safe to use my credit card over the Internet?
Yes! Music Design / NewSound offers Secure On-Line Ordering, which means
you can use your credit card for purchases with complete confidence.
Our site utilizes 128 bit encryption technology, which means it
is very, very difficult for anyone to decode your order and capture
your credit card number. This is the same technology implemented
by the majority of Internet merchants that are serious about protecting
the information their customers transmit over the Internet.

Are
you going to sell my email address to a third party?
No, we will not make the e-mail addresses collected on our site
available to any other company or organization.

I've
forgotten my password. Can you send it to me?
For your security, our Customer Service Department does not have
access to your password. To have your password sent to you
by email, go to the Registered Member
Login screen, type in your email and click the "Remember
Me" button.

How do I check the status of an order?
You may check the status of your order on our Order Status page. If you are not logged in, you will be prompted to do so.

Can
I order a CD in advance of its street date?
Yes, you may order a CD before its release date, and it will
be shipped to you upon its release.You will be charged
for shipping on items ordered in advance.

Can
I send a check or money order instead of using a credit card?
Yes. Simply add items to your shopping cart as though you were
going to place the order online. Print out the shopping cart
and mail it with a check or money order to: NewSound Web Orders,
20048 NE San Rafael
Portland OR 97230.
I'm
in a hurry. Can I fax an order?
Yes. Simply add items to your shopping cart as though you were
going to place the order online. Print out the shopping cart and

How
can I make changes to my account information?
When you go to the Registered Member
Login screen and type in your email address and password,
you will be asked to confirm your account information. At
this time, click the Edit button to change the information on
your account.

Will
I be charged shipping on back-ordered items?
Yes, shipping will be applied to back-ordered items.

Do
you charge me for an entire order, even if one or more of the
items is back-ordered?
NewSound only charges your account after a product has
shipped, thus you aren't charged for back-ordered items until
they leave our warehouse.

My shopping cart is gone.
Be sure you are logging on from the same computer. Your shopping cart is preserved on the computer you started your session with. When you add items to your shopping cart a "cookie" file is stored on the computer you are using; this contains your shopping cart. If you log back on from a different computer your shopping cart will not be there.
Deleting your temp internet files will also delete "cookies" and thus your shopping cart. Some web browsers default settings do this automatically when the browser is closed.

I
get an error message when I try to check out.
If your web browser is set "not to allow cookies" your
online ordering session and shopping cart will not work properly;
you will encounter error messages when you attempt to check out.
Make sure your web browser is set to accept "cookies" You
can set trusted websites for this function within your browser.
For Microsoft IE these settings can be found in Tools / Internet
options / Privacy settings. For FireFox users go to Tools /
Options / Privacy to change the cookie settings. Refer to the
help section of your web browser for more information on these
settings.

How long is my shopping cart preserved?
The titles in your shopping cart are preserved for 30 days. This does not however reserve product.

How long is my session before I'm logged off?
Your online session logs off after 1 hour of inactivity.
The session clock is reset everytime you click your mouse within
the site. If your are logged off simply log back on and you can
continue where you left off.

How
much is shipping?
Shipping is determined when your order is ready for shipment. For a breakdown of expedited shipping costs and free shipping specials, please see our Customer
Service page.

How
long will it take to receive my order?
In a hurry? We offer FedEx 3-DAY, 2-DAY and NEXT-DAY
service within the United States. Shipping costs will be added when your order is processed.
(Next Day Delivery is not available to Alaska or Hawaii.) If you have a tracking number visit
FedEx website.

How
do I enter a different address for shipping?
There are two separate sections for billing information and shipping
information. Simply complete the Shipping Information portion
of check-out with the name and address of the intended recipient.

you have rush orders?
Yes, please see the expedited shipping options on our Customer
Service page.

How
do I return something?
Please contact us. All returns must be pre-authorized and the customer's account must be within credit terms. Unauthorized or expired returns will be shipped back to you freight collect.
How do I exchange something?
Requests for
exchanges must be submitted in writing to
Music Design / NewSound Distribution, 20048 NE San Rafael, Portland
OR 97230 or via fax: 503-491-8488 and must specify label, catalog
number, piece count per title and total piece count. Requests will
be approved within 48 hours by return fax or mail.
Credit for authorized exchanges will be calculated based on the average price paid for each title being returned, with the average price paid calculated over the previous 12-month period. Cash refunds will not be issued.
All stock exchanges must be shrink-wrapped, of clean salable condition and have all price stickers removed. There will be a $0.50 charge on any items requiring refurbishing. We will not exchange opened stock.
Exchange credit will be issued upon receipt of your Stock Exchange Shipment. Please do not presuppose credit amounts in paying account balances or use exchange credit until you have received an accurate credit memo.
Music
Design / NewSound will not pay freight on exchange or defective
items unless we are responsible for the shipping error. Music
Design / NewSound
is not responsible for stock exchange packages lost in shipment.
Unauthorized or expired returns will be shipped back to you
freight collect.

How
do I listen to your Real Audio clips?
To listen to our audio clips, you will need a Real Audio player.
Download one for free at the Real
Audio website. Once you have a Real Audio player, all
you need to do is click on a song title to hear the clip.
Do
you carry vinyl LPs?
Yes! Please visit our Expanded
Search page, and search by Format (LP or 7 Inch).
Do
you sell musical instruments?
No, Music Design / NewSound does not sell musical instruments.
